Used and Forgotten
She can feel him right next to
her
So near and yet so far away
He's shutting her out again
Like he seems to do every other
day
She does what she can to satisfy
him
Giving freely of herself
Trying not to wish for too much
Trying to deal with the pain
She loves him still
But he says he can't take that
chance again
And now because of another
He has built walls against her
So she bites her lip and maintains
silence
Trying not to let her tears flow
Confusion mars her once-perfect
brow
Now lined from too many trials
His moods change like the winds
Frightening her and making her
withdraw into her shell once again
The shell he keeps trying to
get her to abandon
Not realizing it is he who keeps
putting her back in there
Her tears are shed out of his
sight
Not letting him know how much
he is hurting her
Watching him leave her behind
Like a used and forgotten toy.
